Construction began in March of 2025 on a new building that will serve as a secured entrance and connect the Greene County Judicial Courts Facility and former Sheriff's Office and Jail on Boonville Ave in Springfield. It will become the main entrance to both buildings as Campus Security will have their screening equipment to screen the public before wayfinding signs direct the public to which building they should enter. The offices for the Pre-Trial Services Department will also move into this building. This is scheduled to be complete in fall of 2026.
Construction on a new Treatment Court was completed in January 2025 in the former Sheriff’s Office space in the SW corner of the ground floor of the Judicial Courts Facility.
Renovation of the Greene County Historic Courthouse on Boonville Ave began in 2024.
- 145 windows were replaced for better heating and cooling efficiency. Crews installed roller shades, new exterior doors and stone window sills.
- Women’s restrooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors were added and the adjacent men’s restrooms on those floors were also renovated.
- Building Operations installed Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems that allow individual thermostat control of offices/rooms.
- A makeup air system is also being installed throughout the building which has allowed Offices/Departments to temporarily move to the former IS space.
- Construction of customer service counters in the west area (Room 39) of the Assessor’s Office started in May 2025. This will be flipping from the center area (Room 37), which will now become office space. An additional renovation of the Assessor's Office took place in 2023.
- The Collector’s Office and Recorder’s Office are looking at design upgrades of customer service counters in their respective areas.
- After HVAC upgrades are complete in other Offices, the Commission Office construction will start in spring 2026 on the 2nd floor.
- Boonville Ave parking lot for the Historic Courthouse was paved in 2023. Crews added new sidewalks and parking lot lights.
The entire Greene County Sheriff's Office staff and jail was moved to a new building in west Springfield in 2022. Demolition inside the former jail on Boonville Ave began in March of 2025 and is undergoing several renovations for four new family courtrooms on the 2nd floor (former B and C jail pods), the county's Juvenile Office staff, and the Greene County Youth Academy (GCYA). Renovations are scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2026.
Additionally, renovation on the Juvenile Detention Center on Robberson Ave completed in July of 2025 which houses more secure rooms.
The NW corner of the ground floor will be renovated for the Public Administrator’s Office in the fall 2026 with completion scheduled for the end of 2026. Campus Security will also have their offices renovated during this time period.
- Renovation of the former Sheriff’s Training Center and infill of shell spaces were completed in spring 2024 for the Information Systems Department to consolidate their office space in the Public Safety Center.
- Renovation of the Administration building on Robberson Ave will start in the fall of 2026 after the Juvenile GCYA has moved into their new space. We are hopeful to be completed with the finish upgrades by the end of 2026 to allow the Budget and Human Resources Departments to move into the building.
- Roof replacement of the Building Operations Maintenance Storage Building (formerly known as Wright’s Auto) was completed in 2023.
- The Commission Office, Purchasing Dept., and Public Administrator's Office currently rent space on the 10th floor of the Cox Medical Tower on Robberson Ave. The current plan is to vacate that floor in the 1st quarter of 2027 once staff is each office has moved to their new locations.
- The total amount for the campus master planning projects was $29 million, most of this was funded by a bond with the smaller portion funded by American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The designs and renovation costs for the Assessor’s, Collector’s, and Recorder’s Offices are not included as they are paid out of their respective funds.
- Renovations to the Family Justice Center were completed in 2023 with new windows and parking lot expansion.
- An additional chiller was added to the Public Safety Center in 2023
- A makeup air unit and cooling tower was replaced at the Judicial Courts Facility in 2023.
- A chiller was added to the Administration Building in 2024 with renovations to its front and back stairs.
- A Dry Fire Suppression System was installed in paper storage areas (partially funded by Recorder’s Office) in the Archives Building in 2024.
- The current Juvenile Office's roof was replaced in 2024, alongside tuckpointing, a fire alarm system, and HVAC upgrades.
- There were upgrades to HVAC controls campus wide in 2023-24.
