CERT

After completing the CERT basic training series, participants will have the opportunity to apply to become an official CERT volunteer with the Office of Emergency Management. As a registered member, your name will be added to a pool of core volunteers the OEM may call upon for assistance in a variety of roles during disasters (ice storms, tornadoes, floods, etc.) or pre-planned events (fairs, parades, concerts, etc.). You will also be eligible for enhanced training in a variety of disaster preparedness and response courses we offer only to authorized volunteers.

Please follow these steps to register:

  1. Review the CERT Standard Operating Guideline and Code of Conduct, Membership Rules and Regulations, Training Requirements, Volunteer Waiver and Release, and Background Check Information Letter.
  2. Submit your background check request as outlined in the information letter.
  3. Complete the CERT application form, waiver, and acknowledgement of operations documents and submit them with the results of your background check electronically via email to CERT Program Manager or via USPS or drop off to:
